Dr Reza Modarres is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He completed his advanced training in Pain Medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and brings over a decade of broad clinical experience spanning general practice, musculoskeletal medicine, and pain management.
Dr Modarres has a strong orthopaedic background, having worked for several years as an orthopaedic registrar and surgical assistant. This experience underpins his detailed understanding of surgical anatomy, biomechanics, degenerative joint disease, sports-related injuries, and post-operative pain syndromes.
He has a strong interest and experience in ultrasound-guided interventions and provides evidence-based interventional pain procedures, including precision perineural injections and radiofrequency techniques where clinically appropriate.
His approach is structured and holistic, integrating accurate diagnosis, pharmacological optimisation, interventional strategies, and functional rehabilitation within a coordinated multidisciplinary model of care. He works closely with general practitioners, surgeons, psychologists, physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred management focused on functional restoration and sustainable outcomes.
Dr Modarres is also trained in medical and sports acupuncture and incorporates these techniques selectively based on comprehensive clinical assessment and evidence-informed practice.
