Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can my patients be seen?

Routine appointments within a few months. Urgent cases can often be seen within a few weeks.

What information do you need for referral?

An ideal referral letter contains a brief description of the pain issue, other issues, previous treatment, investigations and assessments by surgical/physician colleagues.

Will you communicate treatment plans with me?

Absolutely. We send detailed to letters within few days of every consultation.

Do you provide after-hours support?

Our service operates on an outpatient basis and does not provide after-hours or emergency support. In the event of an acute issue, patients should be directed to the Emergency Department as an initial step.

What's your approach to opioid management?

Managing Pain is a non prescribing practice. Opioid management is a complex and individualised process. We work collaboratively with GPs to support this, taking a patient-centred approach that focuses on rationalising and minimising opioid use through optimisation of evidence-based alternative analgesics, targeted pain interventions and guidance in active self-management.
